Oh Gosh, I live in L.I too. I live in Holbrook. I don't know of any, my hairdresser is better with medium/short hair, but mine is long (a little past shoulders) and she does well too.

depends on your facisal features and your face shape.
Its fun to do what the latest trend is but if it doesn't look that good on you then you shouldn't be doing it, find something that makes you look your best, even if it isn't "in".

Im 12, going on 13 and i want a punkish hairstyle that will help me stand out. I dont mind it too short, but it has to be long enough to touch me shoulders. It also needs to look good with glasses. I am a brunette, and i am getting blue streaks soon. Any sugestions?

Well, okay.
I've organized my thoughts now.
Layers. Brown/blue extensions. (going down the the chest?)
+ extensions aren't neccesary. you could dye your underlayer blue just as easily.
Top layer blue (not too heavy of one... fringe it out?), matches blue extensions.
You can take some gel and piece your top layer , mess it up, and hawk it.

a fringe over the eyes, and ya gotta have streaks in the fringe. use hair gel to but the rest of your hair in spiky chunks. hair up to just below the sholders. and electric blue!! ... well to give you a better idea of what i mean...

I have many Indian girl friends who let their hair grow down to their butts and even feet! When they want to cut it their parents and boyfriends freak out. Ive never asked them. I thought it would sound to ignorant. I think its really pretty on some and sometimes I wish I could grow my hair that long just to say I could. But otherwise I see it as becoming somewhat of a pest. I see them struggle to find new styles etc...
It is a cultural taboo. Indians think short hair equals mental illness (madness).
